Q: Why does Fedex charges a Disbursement Fee?

To expedite customs clearance, FedEx pays the tariffs due to US customs on consignee's behalf. FedEx the bills this amount to either the shipper or the consignee.

Q: How do I pay for the tariff dues?

During order is placement, our system will prompt you select your preferred tariff payment method

Option 1) FedEx will contact the consignee with payment instructions
Option 2) Have the amount billed to consignee's FedEx account
Option 3) Have the charges billed to our FedEx account - we will send you a bill to be reimbursed

Q: Is there any advantages to having tariffs billed to my FedEx account instead of prepayment or COD?

When billed to your FedEx account, disbursement fee starts at USD 4.50 instead of USD 8.50.

You may open a FedEx account through Fedex.com and obtain the 9 digit account number for tariff billings. They only need a Credit Card registered to the account.

Q: How I get your system to bill tariffs to my FedEx account by default ?

Look for "Profile & Preferences" after logging in to your Silver Circuits account. You can then your 9 digit FedEx account number for Duty & Tax billings in that pop-up page.

Q: If I prepay for the US Tariffs, would I be refunded if it's no longer in effect at the time my shipment enters the US?

Yes, it will be fully refunded if that happens.

This is a valid concern as the US appeals court ruled the Reciprocal Tariffs to be illegal on 29th August 2025. The ruling will only take effect in 14th Oct 2025. But more likely than not, this ruling would be appealed at US Supreme Court. We can expect the tariffs will be in effect until the appeals process is exhausted.
